"When some of my friends have asked me anxiously about their boys, whether they should let them hunt, I have answered, yes - remembering that it was one of the best parts of my education - make them hunters."

Henry David Thoreau, 1854

“A citizen who shirks his duty to contribute to the security of his community is little better than the criminal who threatens it.” - Robert Boatman

Colorado State Shooting Association

About CSSA

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Colorado State Shooting Association is to provide shooting opportunities for law abiding residents of Colorado.

Goals

The goals of the Colorado State Shooting Association are to:

Unite shooters, hunters, sportsmen, collectors and all other law abiding firearms enthusiasts to promote the safe and responsible use of firearms.

Promote the development of the shooting sports and the facilities necessary to the shooting sports.

Provide a united voice to all levels of government to defend the shooting sports, hunting rights and firearms ownership.

Protect and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Colorado against all foes, foreign and domestic.

Women & Junior Programs

CSSA works with NRA and the Friends of NRA Foundation to develop and promote youth programs including competitive sports and the Eddie Eagle children’s safety program. We also sponsor hunts and clinics to introduce women to the shooting sports in a fun and safe atmosphere.

Civilian Marksmanship Program

CSSA is also the official Civilian Marksmanship Program state affiliate organization. Membership in an official CMP organization is a prerequisite to purchasing (at a very reasonable cost) a surplus military M-1 Garand from U.S. arsenals or an AR-15 target rifle. CSSA works with numerous Colorado gun clubs to promote their program and encourage Colorado shooters to obtain these firearms and hone their marksmanship skills.

Partners with the National Rifle Association

We work closely with the NRA’s Grassroots Division and Election Volunteer Coordinators. While NRA focuses mainly on national issues, we concentrate our efforts on state and local concerns. Our Grassroots Network is a vital part of our legislative efforts and your membership and participation are crucial to our success.

Although we are the official state of Colorado affiliate to the NRA, we are a completely separate organization. The National Rifle Association does not provide financial support in any way for our organization. The Colorado State Shooting Association must raise 100% of its own funds. Your membership and support are much appreciated!

Leglislative Monitoring

We are working hard to protect your right to keep and bear arms. CSSA vigilantly monitors legislative activity at the State and local levels to protect the rights of law abiding Colorado shooters, hunters and firearms collectors. We work closely with members of the Colorado Legislature in writing and passing bills and often testify at legislative committee hearings to ensure that the collective voice of Colorado shooters is heard. The larger our membership base, the louder our voice at the State Capitol.
