REGISTER ON-LINE FOR HUNTER EDUCATION COURSES

DURANGO, Colo. – People in Western Colorado who want to take a hunter education course must now register on-line through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife web site.
     
The new on-line system is being used to allow better class preparation for instructors.
     
To register, go to the hunter education page of the Parks and Wildlife website, http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/HunterEducation/Pages/HuntEd.aspx. In the first paragraph at the top of the page click on "Find a course at a place and time to fit your schedule." Next, find the date and location of the course that you want to take, click on it and then on the "register here" button.
     
Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1949, must have a Colorado Hunter Education Certificate to purchase a hunting license. Classes are offered at numerous locations in the state throughout the year. Classes cost $10.
     
In the Durango area two classes are scheduled before the 2013 big game hunting seasons: Aug. 28-30, 6:30-10 p.m.; and Sept. 25-27, 6:30-10 p.m. Both classes will be held at the Durango Gun Club on Florida Road just east of the Chapman Hill ice rink.
