"When some of my friends have asked me anxiously about their boys, whether they should let them hunt, I have answered, yes - remembering that it was one of the best parts of my education - make them hunters."

Henry David Thoreau, 1854

“A citizen who shirks his duty to contribute to the security of his community is little better than the criminal who threatens it.” - Robert Boatman

Colorado sheriffs won't enforce governor's gun laws

By:

Paul Bedard

Washington Secrets
The Washington Examiner
In a stunning rebuke to gun control laws just signed by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, several state sheriffs say they won't enforce the new rules because they say it robs weapons from law-abiding citizens--but not criminals.
Calling Second Amendment rights more important than a rush to soothe citizens outraged . . . [snip]
The rebuke comes on the heels of a position the state sheriffs association took to reject national gun control out of concern it unconstitutionally limits the types of weapons state citizens are allowed to have.
According to the Steamboat Today, Moffat County Sheriff Tim Jantz said that there is nothing requiring him to enforce every state law.

Sheriffs against enforcement of new gun laws

-From the Chanel 8 News page (HERE)

Routt County Sheriff Garrett Wiggins and Moffat County Sheriff Tim Jantz say they will not enforce gun-control measures signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper on Wednesday.

 [SNIP]

Similar opposition to such laws has been voiced by several other sheriffs in Colorado, including Sheriff Stan Hilkey of Mesa County and Sheriff Lou Vallario of Garfield County.

Read the entire artilce (HERE)

AND THIS JUST IN: (from  Moe Lane)  Links are underlined

  • Weld County Sheriff John Cooke: “The sheriff told the [Greeley Tribune] that he and other county sheriffs “won’t bother enforcing” the laws because it won’t be possible to keep track of how gun owners are complying with the new requirements.”
  • El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa: “Maketa said his office keeps records of every concealed carry permit holder in the county as required by law, but he would never share it. He said he would destroy the database if anyone tried to get their hands on it and would intervene if government agents started arresting county residents for exercising their constitutional rights.” El Paso County, by the way, is the most populous county in Colorado (yes, even larger than Denver County, which does not have an elected sheriff).

Colo. Sheriff Refuses to Enforce Gun-Control Bills

A Colorado sheriff says he won't enforce two aggressive gun-control measures waiting to be signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper.

Weld County Sheriff John Cooke told The Greeley Tribune
( http://bit.ly/141Ee2z ) that Democratic lawmakers are scrambling after recent mass shootings, and the bills are "feel-good, knee-jerk reactions that are unenforceable." [snip]

The sheriff said he "won't bother enforcing" the laws because it would be impossible for officers to keep track of how the requirements are being met by gun owners — and he and other sheriffs are considering suing the state to block the measures if they are signed into law.

COLORADO LEGISLATOR WANTS VICTIMS TO REMAIN VICTIMS

From fellow blogger Seamus M.

It sounds like Colorado Democrat Senator Evie Hudak would rather that victims of violent crime subject themselves to the depradations of their assailant rather than stand up to them.  So ladies and gentlemen, I ask you- are you going to throw yourself on the mercy of a murderer, mugger, rapist?  Or are you going to stand up to them and say, "Not only no, but HELL NO!"  (and by 'them', I mean rapists, murderers AND legislators who seek to disarm law-abiding citizens preferentially over criminals.)

The above paragraph come from Seamus M. at his blog: VISIT HERE

Anti-Gun Senators

I am repeating a post put up by Rick Wagner at his blog THE WAR ON WRONG  and Gene K. on his blog Living the Grand Life.  It is important to contact these legislators.  I suggest something along the line  -

"I strongly oppose the ineffective and fanatical anti-gun bills being pushed through the legislature. I do not think the Colorado legislature has the legal authority to infringe an inalienable right.

I'm a conservative and will probably never vote for you, BUT if you vote to infringe second amendment rights I will provide as much money as possible to defeat you in your next election."

NRA-ILA

The future of our Second Amendment rights lies in the hands of a few key senators in the Colorado Senate.  If you do not contact these elected officials in opposition to these ineffective and fanatical anti-gun bills being pushed through the legislature, your firearms freedoms could be stolen away in a matter of days.  The Senate is expected to hear the following anti-gun legislation the first week of March:
House Bill 1224 – Bans magazines with a capacity greater than 15 rounds. (Passed by a 34-31 vote in the House.)

House Bill 1226 – Repeals current law allowing individuals with a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm for self-defense on a college or university campus. (Passed by a 34-31 vote in the House.)

House Bill 1228 – Imposes a “gun tax” for a background check when purchasing a firearm. (Passed by a 33-32 vote in the House.)

House Bill 1229 – Criminalizes the private transfer of a firearm. (Passed by a 36-29 vote in the House.)

The Senate is our last line of defense to stop these unconstitutional measures from being sent to Governor John Hickenlooper (D) for his signature!

Please call, email, and use social media to contact the legislators listed below, as they will play a vital role in determining whether or not these unconstitutional measures pass during the first week of March.  Hold your legislators accountable by asking how they plan to vote on this legislation.

Palisade shooting range update

From KKCO

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - The town of Palisade may just be getting a new shooting range.
At Tuesday night’s board of trustees meeting an updated presentation was given to the board on the shooting range.
The board will share the presentation with the Department of Wildlife, who will then present the plan to Excel Energy. Excel Energy owns the land where the proposed range would be located. Palisade's Mayor says the range would benefit the entire valley "this is going to give them the opportunity to come out and shoot in a controlled environment . The town of Palisade is going to benefit the entire western slope and the Grand Valley will benefit. It’s going to benefit everybody in the valley," says Rodger Granat, Palisade Mayor.

Defend Gun Rights

He Must Be Stopped Now
Before He Destroys The U.S. Constitution

While Attorney General Eric Holder was still a U.S. Attorney, he said, "We have to brainwash the American people so they think differently about guns."

Now, as Attorney General, Holder says President Obama has asked him to expand the list of people "not entitled to have guns."

"Not entitled to have guns?" Where in the Second Amendment does it say the right to own and bear arms is guaranteed ONLY IF you are not on a government list of people NOT ENTITLED to have guns? This idea is so convoluted it is difficult to write plainly.
The Second Amendment says, the right of the people, ALL PEOPLE, to "keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," period.  Claiming and exercising the executive power to selectively determine who may and may not enjoy the protections of the U.S. Constitution is the act of a power-crazed politician, AND IT IS GROUNDS FOR IMPEACHMENT—a "high crime and misdemeanor" by any reasonable definition of the term.

The President Has Gone Rogue
He Must Be Stopped Now Before He Destroys The U.S. Constitution
obama-shred-bofr.jpg

The president has no constitutional lawmaking authority whatsoever—his constitutional role is to executive/implement the law, not make it. The job of the chief executive is to see to it that constitutional laws duly enacted by the Congress and signed by the president are faithfully executed.  Therefore, the president is always two steps removed from affecting any legitimate law. In the case of making, rules, regulations and restrictions affecting gun ownership he is flat out BARRED from doing so by the Second Amendment, period.
The president has no constitutional authority whatever to make a list of people NOT ENTITLED to have guns. When the president instructs the chief law enforcement officer of the country to draw up a list of people not entitled to have guns, he far exceeds any conceivable authority granted to him by the Constitution.
As reprehensible as the president’s directive to the Attorney General is, it is not surprising.  It is fully within character and just one more example of how this president holds the Congress, the Constitution and the American people in utter contempt. President Obama has demonstrated over and over, in word and in deed that he intends to govern by EXECUTIVE FIAT, Congress, the courts and the Constitution be damned.

The President Has Gone Rogue
He Must Be Stopped Now Before He Destroys The U.S. Constitution

No one should be shocked that President Obama claims the power to rewrite the Second Amendment to give himself the power to draw up a list of people NOT TO BE AFFORDED THE PROTECTION OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT.  He also claims the constitutional power and moral authority to use drones and assassination squads to kill U.S. citizens without even charging them with a crime, without trying them in a court of law or convicting them by a jury of their peers; and he claims the authority to act as prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner in these killings, unrestrained by constitutional requirements of due process or the protections afforded a person accused of a crime by the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments.
Judge Andrew Napolitano exposed Obama's personal campaign of assassination for what it really is:
“The power claimed by kings and tyrants. This is about as un-American a power as one can imagine. This is in direct defiance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees due process, a jury trial before the government can take your life or liberty. This is in defiance of federal law, state laws and treaties to which the United States is a party.”
Napolitano further described the secret, recently leaked Justice Department memorandum used to justify the presidential assassination program as "breathtaking and chilling in the cavalier way in which it suggests that the president—actually it doesn't even say 'the president'—it says any 'informed, high-level U.S. government official' can strip an American of his or her constitutional protections and order the killing of that American.'"

The President Has Gone Rogue
He Must Be Stopped Now Before He Destroys The U.S. Constitution

Yes, Barack Obama has gone into business stripping Americans of their constitutional rights. The President of the United States has gone rogue.
He must be stopped.

VOLUNTEERS FOR STATEWIDE SPORTSMEN'S ROUNDTABLE

CPW SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR STATEWIDE SPORTSMEN'S ROUNDTABLE

DENVER - Colorado Parks and Wildlife is looking for volunteers to serve on a new statewide advisory panel that will provide feedback for the agency on hunting, fishing and wildlife management issues in Colorado.

The Colorado Sportsmen’s Roundtable will meet twice a year to discuss issues and help the agency understand the views and ideas of Colorado’s hunters and anglers. The agency hopes the group will provide a forum for identifying important issues and working with sportsmen to help protect fish, wildlife and habitat as well as preserving Colorado’s hunting heritage.

"Hunters and anglers are the champions of wildlife conservation in Colorado," said Rick Cables, Director of Colorado Parks and Wildlife. "We want their advice and ideas as we tackle the issues facing our state."

Individuals interested in serving on the Colorado Sportsmen’s Roundtable can complete a short online application to describe their involvement in hunting and fishing and their interest in representing their fellow hunters and anglers. The application can be completed at http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/Pages/Roundtable.aspx. Sixteen individuals will be chosen to serve one or two year terms on the Roundtable. The deadline for applying is Friday, Feb. 15. The first meeting of the group will occur in late March. The group will also include individuals selected at regional “caucus” meetings to occur over the next few months around the state.

For additional information on this process, contact Dave Chadwick at dave.chadwick@state.co.us or 303-291-7174.

Read this before? Here it is again!!

George Washington: "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable ... the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

Thomas Jefferson: "Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."

George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment : "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
