Re-elected Obama Pushes Anti-2nd Amendment Gun Grab
Second Amendment: Within hours of re-election, the
administration fast-tracked a treaty in the United Nations that
transcends borders and tramples our constitutional right to keep and
bear arms. It was no coincidence.
Less than 24 hours after President Obama's re-election, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations helped move the U.N.'s Arms Control Treaty a step closer to enactment. America joined 157 other nations in voting Wednesday to finalize the treaty in March. None was opposed and there were 18 abstentions.
U.N. delegates and gun-control activists had complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney

TENNESSEE MEN SENTENCED FOR POACHING BEAR
Two men from Tennessee were caught stealing wildlife from the citizens of Colorado--
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. - Two men from Tennessee were sentenced in Garfield County Court earlier this month for their role in a felony, bear poaching incident in August.
Harley Boss Manley, 51, of Martin, Tenn., pleaded guilty to a charge of killing a black bear before Sept. 1- the start of the fall, bear hunting season. He was given a mandatory five-year suspension of his hunting privileges, a two-year deferred prison sentence for felony willful destruction, forfeit his bow, ordered to pay a fine of $4,000 and donate $6,000 to Operation Game Thief, a Colorado tip line for wildlife infractions. In addition, the Garfield County judge ordered that Manley be placed under supervised probation.
David Ronnie Coleman, 62, of Union City, Tenn., also pleaded guilty to killing a black bear before Sept. 1, and received a mandatory five-year suspension of his hunting privileges. He was fined $3,000 and ordered to donate $4,000 to OGT.
In exchange for their guilty pleas, the judge dropped additional felony charges of tampering with evidence and other misdemeanor charges against both men.
"This was a serious offense these two men committed," said Perry Will, Area Wildlife Manager for Colorado Parks and Wildlife in Glenwood Springs. "It took considerable man-hours and investigation to bring them to justice and my officer is to be commended for his excellent work in this case."

Former West Point football player dies in accidental shooting at Connecticut home
Marcus Dixon was once a homeless young teenager who made a
"180-degree turn" when a family in Stamford, Conn., adopted him at age
17, the Connecticut Post reported. He went on to become the football
captain at Stamford High School -- where he graduated from in 2009 --
before making it to West Point.
Dixon died shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday when he accidentally shot himself in the head with his .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, according to local reports. Dixon was showing his gun to two friends at an apartment in Stamford at the time of the incident. He had removed the magazine from the pistol and, thinking it was empty, tried to show the gun was safe by pointing it toward his head and pulling the trigger, the newspaper reported. One round was hidden in the gun's chamber.

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State
Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All
Firearms in the United States . The Obama administration intends to
force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens
through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By
signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nationsand individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of
gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health
care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.
Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed.

strengthening gun control laws — laws that must respect Second Amendment
rights, he said.
“[Obama] does support renewing the assault weapons ban,” Carney said today, “There has been reluctance by Congress to pass that renewal.”

Sticking to their guns: Marines place $22.5M order for the Colt .45 M1911
It’s been called the greatest handgun ever made, and it has barely changed sine 1911, when the legendary John Browning designed it especially for the U.S. Military.
And now, the Colt .45 M1911 is making a big comeback, now that the U.S. Marines have placed a $22.5 million order for the Connecticut-made pistols.
The gun, which has been wielded on film by John Wayne and in real life by Sgt. Alvin York and Maj. Audie Murphy, was the standard-issue sidearm in the military for decades, until it was replaced by the Beretta M9 in 1985.

Sen. Schumer Seeks Ban on High Cap Mags and Assault Weapons Next Week
If passed, the amendment will make it illegal to "transfer or
possess large capacity" magazines. Schumer and company consider "large
capacity" to be anything more than 10 rounds. The exception to the ban
would be magazines for .22 rifles.

Good deal for Chicago Gun buyback!!!
Group Turns in Broken Guns to “Gun Buyback” Program, Raises Money for NRA Youth Shooting Camp.
Read the entire (not very long) article at Volokh Conspiracy by clicking in the above article.
The city collected 5,500 guns last Saturday in the annual buyback. The city gave out $100 MasterCard gift cards for each gun and $10 cards for BB guns and replicas.
Sixty of the guns and several BB guns were turned in by the Champaign-based Guns Save Life [yielding $6,240]…. Most of the money will go toward buying ammunition for an NRA youth camp in Bloomington. The rest will pay for four bolt-action rifles that will be given away to campers.
“This was rusty, non-firing junk that we turned in,” Boch said. “We are redirecting funds from people who would work against the private ownership of firearms to help introduce the next generation to shooting safely and responsibly.”

Hunting Heritage Trust/NSSF® Study: Youth Who Hunt and Shoot Can Positively Influence Peers
NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The more familiar youth are with individuals their own age who hunt and target shoot, the more likely they will be to support and participate in these activities.
This key finding and others come from a major new research project commissioned by the Hunting Heritage Trust and National Shooting Sports Foundation® to determine the impact of peer influence on youth participation in hunting and the shooting sports.
Results from the project were presented at the 77th North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference this week in Atlanta.
"This study shows us that today's youth that hunt and target shoot are important role models to other youth that have yet to participate in these activities. What they say about hunting and shooting and how they conduct themselves reflect on those activities and can have an effect on whether their peers will participate in them," said Jim Curcuruto, NSSF's director of industry research and analysis.
"The findings of this report are helping us better understand the impact of youth peer influence at a time when youth no longer participate in hunting and target shooting as much as they once did," said Bob Delfay, president of the Hunting Heritage Trust. "The study is timely because we see that many opportunities exist to positively affect youth attitudes toward the shooting sports."
Responsive Management, the well-known public opinion researchers in the fields of conservation, hunting and target shooting, conducted the research in January using focus groups and a nationwide scientific telephone survey of youth ages 8 to 17 years old.
"At these ages, youth are developing potentially life-long perceptions of other people. Youth hunters and target shooters are role models for these activities, and it is extremely important that they know this and present themselves in a manner that will positively affect their peers," said Mark Damian Duda, Executive Director of Responsive Management.
The study also revealed that youth have a curiosity about the shooting sports and an eagerness to learn more about them. Non-participants said they would accept an invitation to try target shooting and hunting. When the percentages from the study were applied to U.S. population estimates, the report found that mor e than 23 million youth ages 8 to 17 would be likely to hunt if invited in the next 12 months, and more than 27 million youth would be likely to target shoot if invited during that period.
"The most important obligation for youth hunting and shooting ambassadors is to invite their friends to go hunting and shooting," the report said.
Not surprisingly, the study noted that communication among peers via social media had potential to have a positive effect on attitudes. The study noted, "Youth are uniquely positioned to take advantage of the most prominent and effective means of social media" and that sponsoring organizations should encourage the use of these and other communications tools.
Participation in the shooting sports should not be all about the activities themselves but also about socializing, meeting new friends and having a fun time, according to the report. In this way, the shooting sports are not unlike any other sport or group activity.
The report noted that youth react favorably to opportunities to try something new, which is good news for the traditional activities of target shooting and hunting.

Bull Moose ~-Action Alert-~
Fellow Hunters, Anglers and Coloradans,
We need your help. As many of you know, Rep. Sal Pace (D-Pueblo) and Sen. Jean White (R-Hayden) recently introduced a bipartisan bill to support Colorado's sportsmen. But, we need your help to make the bill a reality. House Bill 1275 creates a new Colorado sportsmen’s license plate, with the money generated by the sales of the license plates going directly towards expanding opportunities for public shooting ranges and improving fishing opportunities in Colorado.
As part of getting the license plate bill through the legislative and administrative process, we must collect 3,000 signatures.
Please support this license plate by signing our petition here.
Please also feel free to share this with your hunting and fishing buddies.
The revenue from an overwhelming number of other special license plates go to non-profit organizations. However, unlike other license plates, none of the proceeds from the sales of this license plate will go to any single non-profit organization, but will go to Colorado Parks and Wildlife to expand shooting ranges and fishing opportunities.
The Need:
Two of the basic gateways to hunting and angling sports occur through basic initiation and instruction through opportunities that allow a parent to take a young person plinking at a range, or to a nearby park to catch their first pan fish. The bill will allow Colorado’s sportsmen and women to proudly display their identity as a community, and boost basic opportunities into our sports by providing more access to shooting ranges and fishing.
Colorado is currently experiencing a lack of public shooting ranges, and ongoing threats to close this activity on federally managed lands.
Hunting and Fishing recreation annually contributes $2 billion to Colorado’s economy through direct and secondary expenditures and supports 20,000 jobs statewide. Hunting and angling are the primary tools utilized for wildlife management, and provide the overwhelming bulk of revenue for wildlife management activities. For the sake of wildlife, it is vital to continue to provide opportunities to retain and recruit hunters and anglers. We think this bill is a fun way to show our support for hunting and angling in Colorado, our solidarity as sportsmen and women despite our individual pursuits or interests, and finally, a way to contribute additional funds to programs well run by CPW, and much needed by the general sporting community.
I can’t wait to hang this plate from my truck, and hope you will consider signing the petition here.
Sincerely,
Tim Mauck

'Glock': The story of a weapon
In 1982, an obscure Austrian engineer named Gaston Glock, who worked in a radiator plant and had a side business with his wife making curtain rods, knives and belt buckles, invented a type of pistol that changed the world of firearms and powerfully influenced politics and popular culture. Glock is now 82, and his surname has become synonymous in some circles with "handgun."
[snip]
Thirty years ago, Glock knew that the Austrian Army wanted 20,000 new service pistols made in Austria, and no suitable gun existed. So he set out to design one. The all-black Glock pistol had unconventional lines, sleek simplicity and extreme reliability -- and its adoption shocked the firearms industry.

Toy Guns: Do They Lead to Real-Life Violence?
Surprisingly, studies show no link between playing with toy weapons in childhood and aggression in adulthood.
Play has been linked to social and cognitive development. Through imaginary games, children learn how to control impulses, delay gratification, think symbolically, and view things from another's perspective. Play also allows children to act out their fears and aspirations. "As a little boy, you're not very powerful," Thompson says. "With a gun, you feel powerful and heroic."
That doesn't mean this type of play is about violence, however. According to Thompson, it's really about dominance and heroism, winning and losing, and who gets to be the good guy in the end.
