"When some of my friends have asked me anxiously about their boys, whether they should let them hunt, I have answered, yes - remembering that it was one of the best parts of my education - make them hunters."

Henry David Thoreau, 1854

“A citizen who shirks his duty to contribute to the security of his community is little better than the criminal who threatens it.” - Robert Boatman

Proposals on gun restrictions rev up rumor mill

So How much do you trust the Main Stream Media of which I am sure the Idaho Statesman is in league.

Fears that Obama wants new restrictions spark a run on firearms and ammo in the Valley.

Two months ago, an Illinois Democrat introduced a bill to prohibit gun ownership without a license nationwide. But experts -- and Idaho Congressman Walt Minnick -- say House Resolution 45 (the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act) is a political statement, not a serious initiative that has any chance of passing.

Minnick, a conservative freshman Democrat, has broken with the Obama administration on budget and stimulus bills in his first two months in Congress. He said Obama will rein in Holder and other Cabinet members who have advocated stricter gun controls and the administration will soon deliver a more consistent message.

Ann Coulter his another one (way) out of the park.

Here are two paragraphs from the commentary!

Liberals tolerate rallies on behalf of cop-killers, but they prohibit law-abiding citizens working at community centers in Binghamton, N.Y., from being armed to defend themselves from disturbed, crack-addicted America-haters like Jiverly Wong.

The demand for more gun control in response to any crime involving a gun is exactly like Obama's response to North Korea's openly belligerent act of launching a long-range missile this week: Obama leapt to action by calling for worldwide nuclear disarmament.

WOOPS I have to include this gem as well.

Fortunately, our sailors didn't wait around for Obama to save them when Somali pirates boarded their ship this week. Stop right now or I'll ask the U.N. to remind the "international community" that "the U.S. is not at war with Somali pirates."

IDPA April Match @ Whitewater

Shootists:

It appears we will not be shooting tomorrow April 4, 2009. The rain has come to haunt the safety conscious.
It would, in the opinion of many, be unsafe to slog around in the clayey mud that builds up on your shoes and other gear, so I am calling the game off.
In the event something changes by this evening, I will get back to you for an improbable re-start.
Sorry. Perhaps more of us could redouble our efforts in requesting the Man upstairs give us a decent day to shoot next month May 2, 2009.
Onc again, I would like all to start signing up no later than 8:30 so we can get in to the shooting. I expect we will have quite a few new shooters and the safety meeting may be a bit longer as this will be the first shoot of the year for APG IDPA Whitewater.
I just re-checked and there is a 60% chance of rain tomorrow - unfortunately, as we have many coming from the East, we have to call the game off.
I'll recontact you soon.

Keep paracticing, we have a great match planned.
Keep 'em down range

Gun owners can get a "Win" in the Colorado Legislature... if you act NOW!

This Friday the Colorado State Senate may hear House Bill 1180, which is the Brady Bypass bill.

This legislation would allow a concealed handgun permit holder to show an FFL (a gun dealer) -- or private seller at a gun show -- his or her permit and could then SKIP the Brady Registration check (sales through a dealer would still require the BATFE's 4473 form).

Yesterday on KCOL radio, sponsor Senator Greg Brophy (Rep. Steve King is the House sponsor) called this bill a simple "pre-approval" measure to buy a gun.

Though this bill was gutted in the House Judiciary weeks ago, Brophy managed to have the bill reinstated to it's original form, and the bill could pass the State Senate... but only if you act ASAP!

There is one danger: some law enforcement are claiming they need a statewide database of permit holders to administer this and to be able to verify that permits are real (that's ludicrous, since no one can even produce a case of a fake permit in Colorado).

It's vital we keep any amendments off of this bill.

We need a handful of Democrats to support this pro-gun legislation, so they need to hear from you.

Call these Senators and courteously ask them to support this common-sense legislation, House Bill 1180, without amendments:

Senator Morgan Carroll - 303-866-4879
Senator John Morse - 303-866-6364
Senator Chris Romer - 303-866-4852
Senator Gail Schwartz - 303-866-4871

Of course, it's worth your time to call your own State Senator, regardless of party, to urge his/her favorable vote.

You must act as soon as possible, though. Leaving a message with their office is fine, but make that call today!
